The Flower of a Thorny Conflict 2020
The first work is a large found and constructed trapezoidal lightbox housing a drawing of the plant. Similar plant drawings played a critical role in the Israeli governments protection efforts - forcefully applying Zionist ideals to the physical landscape and Israeli flora. The original protection laws were disseminated by a hugely popular poster campaign which featured plant drawings similar to mine. Protected much more recently, Gundelia tournefortii was never included in the original poster campaign.
